Symphony Space is hosting some stuff. There's projects a lot closer than you may think. The problem isnt that. Its that lower east side has changed in size and shape. Now they include cheap areas like Chinatown and Two Bridges and call that Lower East Side as well. Chinatown / Two Bridges is legit one of the most enjoyable neighborhoods in Manhattan. The majority of the people on the streets are not locals, they are coming from other neighborhoods, or more commonly, from outside the city. In that sense, high end commercialism is SoHo culture. Its culture is based on the stores, which are mostly extremely high end and corporate. Its a very celebrity based neighborhood as well..
